Weighbridges have been mainly 5 types up till now :

Mechanical Scales: At first came the mechanical scales. It was a mechanical weighbridge which was lever based. When weight was put on the scale the lever used to rise and the weight was shown accordingly .
Dial Weighbridges : After that came the dial weighbridges. In the dial weighbridge, there was an indicator which moved like an analogue clock.
Dial Weighbridges with Printing : In the third stage came dial weighbridges with printing. It was the same old dial weighbridges in which you could insert the printing tickets and punched by the lever and as a result a slip would come out.
Electro Mechanical Weighbridges: The fourth kind that came were electro-mechanical weighbridges in 1900s. These included the lever and the load cells as well. But it had the same issue of accuracy.
Electronic Weighbridges: Then in the late 1900s came the electronic weighbridges. Electronic weighbridges are based out of load cells and indicators which electronically transmit a signal thereby showing the weight.
